After two semi-finals, Croatia picked its entry for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest in the final of DORA 2007 tonight. The final took place at the Crystal Hall of the Kvarner Hotel in Opatija. The road towards the selection of Croatia's representatives for Helsinki was an exciting one, as the night ended with a difference of only one point between the winners and the runner-up.
The band DRAGONFLY exists of Drago VIDAKOVIC', Branko KUZNAR, Branko BADANJAK and Iva GLUHAK. For the occasion, they were joined by 57-year old singer and guitar player Dado TOPIC', who is also the writer and composer of Vjerujem U Ljubav.
As our country’s representatives on Eurosong contest, Croatia chooses the rock tandem that believes in love! Dado Topić and the band Dragonfly defeated Dora and started to pack up their for Helsinki.
According to the decision made by televoters and primarily the jury, the song ‘Vjerujem u ljubav’ by Dado Topić and Dragonfly has been awarded the honour to be Croatian representative for the Eurovision Song Contest, which will be held in Finland in May.
It only took first few bars of the song whose lyrics smartly flirt with the chorus in English to make it evident who this year’s favourite is. The gang called Dragonfly is heading in their own direction but doesn’t compromise the traditional rock and roll. The band was established a decade ago on the initiative of Branko and Drago Vidaković, the passionate and well-known guitar collector. The combinations of playing well, love for music and produced by Nikša Bratoš guarantees the good sound!
